Jagdish chaturvedi is a Stanford-India Biodesign Fellow 2012. Jagdish got his graduate degree in medicine (MBBS) from Sree Siddhartha Medical College, Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences (RGUHS), Karnataka in 2006 and thereafter worked in the field of psychiatry as a Non-PG Junior Resident at the National Institute of Mental Health and Neurosciences (NIMHANS) for 6 months before receiving his surgical training in ENT as a Postgraduate resident doctor in Otorhinolaryngology, Head and Neck Surgery, DNB (Diplomat of National Board) at St Johns Medical College in Bangalore, India under the guidelines of the National Board of Examinations (NBE).
During his surgical training in Otorhinolaryngology he developed a working prototype of a device which enables video Otoscopy, video Nasal-endoscopy and video Laryngoscopy using the same portable instrument called the Ear, Nose and Throat Multiscope Recorder (EMR). This tri-purpose handheld low cost endoscopic device is an advanced but inexpensive, portable, recording and transmitting diagnostic tool for use of primary health care centre and family doctors to provide on the spot, low cost accurate Ear Nose and Throat (ENT) diagnosis. This device has gone from concept to first level product development and has won the ENGINEER 2010, NITK, Suratkal, E- PITCH Contest category BIZZ for the best entrepreneurship business plan. The work led to the formation of a startup called Yukti Medical Innovations Private Limited which is now strongly focused on developing similar medtech innovations from its main office located in Bangalore.
Jagdish has authored and conducted several research projects in the field of ENT and has been the principle investigator for various studies such as research on postoperative tonsillectomy pain, the effects of personality traits on Allergic Rhinitis(AR), Correlation of CT PNS (Paranasal Sinus) with endoscopic findings in chronic rhino sinusitis and measurement of internal diameter of trachea using a software and comparing it with 3 other different Methods during his training as an ENT surgeon under the guidance and mentorship of Dr. Ravi C Nayar, Professor, Department of Otorhinolaryngology at St Johns Hospital in Bangalore.
Jagdish is passionate about inventing and developing affordable medical devices and low cost medtech solutions for developing countries.
